Mystery Garbage Express!

1. Cut a rectangle piece of material 38 inches long and 20 inches wide.
Cut a second piece of material 18 inches long and 4 inches wide.

Try to make it as even as possible but if you can't then don't worry too much about it as long as you are close it should turn out.

2. Fold in half lengthwise and make sure the material is inside out and sew
down the side.  Do this to both pieces of fabric.

When both are done being sewn : Turn the smaller piece the right side out and set to the side to use later.

While still inside out fold down the ends about 2 inches and sew them all the way
around leaving only about 2 fingers size not sewn shut.  Do this to both ends
of the larger piece of material.

Cut 4 inches of elastic and thread through the bottom of your bag and sew shut when your done.

Remember that piece of fabric I told you to set aside?  Well it is time to use it now.
Attach it to the top of the bag but try not to sew your bag closed where you need to thread
your elastic for the bag.

Now that your handle is attached to your bag it is time to. . .

Cut another piece of elastic this one being 6 inches long.  Thread it through the top of the bag and  sew it in place.

Now that everything is sewn it is time to turn your bag right side out.

Now that your bag is right sides out.  It is time to find a good spot to hang it.  You can use old grocery sacks, wad them into a ball and load your bag from the top. When you need a garbage sack you just pull one out at a time and use it.

At our home My Mom is going to use it in the baby's room for those dirty diapers.  She can pull out one trash sack at a time when she changes my sisters diaper and wrap them in the smaller bags before she puts them in the larger trash can. That way it keeps the smells down.

It is a "Mystery" what you can use this for and it is a "Mystery" what fabric colors you will use to design yours.

Woven Hearts

1. First you take 2 sheets of construction paper in whatever colors you are wanting.  (it is better to have them be two different colors.)  Then you fold them both hamburger style.

2. Cut both sheets in half like shown here.
3. We need the sheets to be about 4 inches wide (trim off any excess paper)

4. On the fold cut 3 slits 1 inch apart and 4 inches long.

5. Draw a half circle on the opened end of the  pages.  Then you cut it out!

6. This is what your paper should look like when it is cut with the rounded ends.

7. Then you begin to weave the two colors together.

8. This is what your finished product should look like.  Create as many as you wish.  And don't forget to have fun doing it.
